Miriam Adam
Clarinet
Miriam Adam is an internationally known chamber musician, soloist, music advocate and educator originally from Monterey, California. A founding and former member of the GRAMMY-nominated woodwind quintet, Imani Winds, she maintained an active international touring schedule for almost two decades with performances at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Beijing Arts Center, Hollywood Bowl among hundreds others with numerous awards and noted recordings.
Since moving to France in 2017 she has performed throughout Europe with Eric le Sage, Francois Salque and as a featured artist at such festivals as Folle Journee, Colmar Festival, Radio France Festival, among others. She has soloed with Singapore Symphony, Appassionata Ensemble, Orchestra de Pau and her last solo album, Havana Moon was Sirius XM’s Best of 2016 list and hailed as a performance of “Coolly virtuoso performances lit by flashes of passion” by Grammophone. Adam has been performing with the Chineke! Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble as principal clarinetist since 2016, featured regularly on BBC, and the BBC Proms. She is a Selmer Paris Artist, Vandoren Artist, and Steinway Ensemble Artist with her acclaimed duo, The TransAtlantic Ensemble. She has given master classes at every major conservatory, most recently with the AdZel Duo. Her recordings can be heard on E1 Classics, Steinway label, Warner classics and her profile was featured on NPR’s Performance Today.
Mariam Adam has served on as Vice President for Chamber Music America and is faculty at the YOLA Institute with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Selmer Academy and is currently Assistant Clarinet Professor at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University where she is a member of the Blair Wind Quintet and co-director of the Blair Colloquium Series.
