violinist-violist Miranda Werner (Norfolk ’23, ’24) has won a section viola position with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra beginning next year. A gratuate of the Yale School of Music, she studied in the vioin studio of Soovin Kim and the viola studio of Ettore Causa.
“During my first two years as a violinist, Professor Kim challenged me to think deeply about my artistic choices, and as a result I was able to develop a musical personality that felt both meaningful and genuine,” says Miranda. “Later, Professor Causa taught me to embrace the complex sound world of the viola, and encouraged me to believe in my goals as an artist. The strength of the support system of teachers, colleagues, and friends I was able to create here at YSM has allowed me to adopt a calm, decidedly joyful musical mindset, invaluable to my growth as a performer and artist.”
